30 Days of Painting

So here is my final collage of all the paintings I completed for the 

30 paintings in 30 days challenge.

#30 "Baby Cardinal"

Well here it is, the last one of the 30 paintings in 30 day challenge.

Thanks again to Leslie Saeta for hosting this.

It was both exhausting and exhilarating, and I'm grateful

to have been a part of it and to have visited the sites of so many

talented artists!

Next I'm off to a different challenge. Lavinia Wiggins and I are going to

do a show this June called "Wish You Were Here," all about postcards.

(When I do Florence it'll be more like, wish I were there!)

#29 "Spots"

Yes, I know there are no spots. But I have to wait til the painting's dry

and so I'm going to post anyway because this bird is so gorgeous!

#28 "Stitches"

Painting this butterfly was like filling in a jigsaw puzzle with its beautiful

markings. And I especially liked the stitching around the edges of the wings,

dark on light, and light on dark.

I'll probably have to touch this up but must wait til it's dry.

Another note: I would've normally put a green or blue background behind a yellow orange butterfly, but saw a striking book cover in the library yesterday that had a yellow butterfly on a yellow background!

Please remind me never to do coffee cups again, there are just too many ovals. 

On the other hand, I can't wait to do more distressed paint!

This was a delicious cup of coffee in a cosy coffee shop my husband and I stopped at while kicking around in Beacon, NY.

#22 "Autumn Squash"

 This is not a pumpkin. We received it from our CSA and they called it 'Black Futsu' and the recipe said 'do not be afraid of this squash.' Well I was, so we used it as a centerpiece for Halloween! It's about the size of a Chicago softball.

on this guy.

Okay, so I have an issue with clouds not turning out but, dramatic as it is...

I'm pretty happy with the outcome. 

Boat at Block Island - #12

 I almost forgot about this painting. It was half done and I finished it. 

 I liked the shadows!

Little Blue Building - Day 11

I was driving home from Garrison and I had to back out to get this shot 

- a dog was barking at me the whole time and I was 

anticipating him jumping the fence to get me!

I did survive to paint this.

Lavinia and I had our opening today and were so happy to see people who came out despite the snow.  I skidded a bit on the way home and was happy to get home and paint this picture.

So nice to get all these paintings done in time for my show "Summer Explorations"

at the Somers Library with Lavinia Wiggins.

Okay, maybe you remember this from last September. However, you might've had the same reaction as the guy driving past while I was out painting it, who shouted "Where's the mast!?" Well, whoever you are, Here it is!
