“U PIck, Sauvie Island”

“U Pick, Sauvie Island”
Oil on Linen, 6”x8”

I went with my sister in law Patricia Kullberg to pick blackberries, and the farm was SO beautiful! We got a variety of things and chatted with one of the owners. It seems a challenge to run a farm these days, and I’m so grateful for those that do. I do plan to paint a bigger one of these - as a matter of fact, I have an unfinished one that I put on hold.

Oregon U-Pick

“Oregon U-Pick”
Oil on Wood, 6” x 8”

My sister in law and I went on a beautiful summer day to Sauvie’s Island. There was so much to choose from. I’m not sure how long these guys can stay in business, it’s harder for them than it used to be.

“On the Columbia River, Oregon”

“On the Columbia River, Oregon”
Oil on Board, 6” x 12”

There is nothing as calming as being on a gently rocking boat and looking out
over still water to a distant Oregon landscape!

“Ready for Winter”

“Ready for Winter”
Oil on Canvas, 9” x 12”

I have just finished “My Ántonia” by Willa Cather, and found it to be the story of my great grandparents who settled South Dakota. Raised in a Chicago suburb, I was lucky enough to spend several weeks each summer on my Aunt Arlene and Uncle Bud’s farm in the Black Hills. I wandered the fields, met cows, caught frogs and watched chickens - they made me nervous!

“Shed at Fred’s“

“Shed at Fred’s”
Oil on Canvas, 11” x 14”

I kept coming back to this image because of the cool fish painted on the bright side of the glowing white shed. So glad I’ve finally tackled it! I’m happy with the water, and I did reduce the paraphernalia in the background, masts, boats and other marine accoutrements, in order to enjoy the trees!

"Fred's Marina, Portland Oregon"

"Fred's Marina, Portland Oregon"
Oil on Canvas, 8" x 6"

We sometimes go boating with my brother in law.
Being from a Chicago suburb with no boating experience I didn't get it at first.
But when we go floating down the Columbia there is nothing as peaceful!

"Oregon Field"

"Oregon Field"
Oil on Canvas, 9" x 12"

Starting to feel less rusty with landscape. I love how these buildings are dwarfed by the
grandeur of these mountains. I'm from Illinois. The first time I saw Mount Hood in
Portland Oregon, it looked fake , like a screen projection of a mountain!
Then I climbed South Sister, and I realized just how real
- and huge - these guys are. Plus a sweltering July day turned into windy and 40 degrees.
And back to sweltering when we finally got down.

"Oregon Field," 8x6 inches, Oil on Canvas
Landscape is my first love in painting. I used to drive through the
Illinois cornfields and wonder at the beautiful changing skies.
Oregon is just as gorgeous!
