“Standard House, Peekskill, NY”
10”x8”

I painted this for an auction at the Garrison Art Center.I looked at “Nighthawks” by Edward Hopper, which inspired me to heighten the green and the brick red colors. I can’t look at this without thinking about him and his paintings from the 40’s.

“My Kinda Town”

“My Kinda Town”
Oil on Linen, 12” x 16”

Croton on Hudson, NY.  The blue hills in the background are actually
on the other side of the Hudson River.

“Brooklyn Bridge from Vinegar Hill”

“Brooklyn Bridge from Vinegar Hill”
Oil on Linen, 10” x 8”

I’ve come to realize that there is every chance I will go back into a painting and alter it.
Well, here it is for now! I love the mysterious cobblestone hidden roads of the city, with the occasional view of a landmark.

Along Cleveland Drive

“Along Cleveland Drive”
Oil on Wood, 8” x 10”

Just as the sun is about to set on a cold January day, the magic hour glow makes these houses shine.

“Lake Meahagh House”

“Lake Meahagh House”
Oil on Linen, 8” x 10”

I love to paint a house in front of the ocean or a river, but here is one behind the water! It”s so odd that some trees are in bloom and others haven’t even leafed out. This is a real orange/green composition, but the sky is the palest blue ever..

"Barn at Castle Rock Park, Garrison, NY"

"Barn at Castle Rock Park, Garrison, NY"
Oil on Board, 6" x 8"

This was one of my preliminary studies for the Garrison Paintout last month, which I decided to finish yesterday. By now all the trees are in full leaf, but the underpainting was done back in mid-May. I had fun with the beautiful grassy field in front and the gorgeous barn.

"Peekskill Homes by the Hudson"

"Peekskill Homes by the Hudson"
Oil on Canvas, 10" x 8"

I started this, then abandoned it for a horizontal format.
So a year later I'm returning to this original painting.
I love the road leading past these houses glowing in the sun
and ending up by the lovely Hudson River.

"Maple Avenue, Croton on Hudson"

"Maple Avenue, Croton on Hudson"
Oil on Canvas, 8" x 6"

This is an earlier painting that just needed something.
I think it works now!

"Harriman Park"

"Harriman Park"
9" x 12," Oil on Canvas

I painted this on the side of the lake early spring 2017. It was chilly, but I was happy with the piece! However the background always seemed too dominant. I've lightened it up in order to push it back and give more depth to the scene.

"Snow at the Boat Yard" February 5

"Snow at the Boat Yard"

It's tricky driving around in the snow taking pictures, but it was so beautiful out along the Hudson River. I didn't see any other cars, everyone was staying home!

Up the Taconic, Feb. 4

"Driving up the Taconic Parkway"
I have no idea what this little building was for. Gas station? Snacks? It seems closed right now. My husband and I were driving up to the FDR museum and it caught my eye.

"On the Road to Senasqua I"

I took a drive on a snowy morning and shot a series of photos.
I love the quiet colors of winter in the northeast!

"In front of Senasqua,"

First, for 30 Paintings in 30 days, February 2018. Thanks again Leslie Saeta for hosting.

I was surprised this piece ended up so warm in color for such a cold day. I do love how it makes the blue hills in the distance stand out. I'm a little rusty because of the holidays and planning a trip to Mexico to see my son before he undertakes a biking trip to the very bottom of Patagonia,
but there it is. Thanks for following!

"Hilltop Hanover House"

"Hilltop Hanover House"
Oil on Gessobord, 10" x 8"

I went plein aire painting at a local farm with the amazing Jessica Miller.
It was several years ago and I can't remember what her painting looked like
but it was probably wonderful. This kicked around in my studio for a few years,
and then sold at last weekend's Holiday Boutique!
